Thursday, the 17th - Child Safety Seminar- The Center for Women and Families is putting on a Child Safety Seminar at noon. Since we have just moving into our new space (Sharwan Smith Center 175) and want to welcome both women and families into the Center, we want the little ones to be safe. Join us for a small workshop and seminar about the best ways in which to protect your children while they are at home.
Thursday, the 24th - First Ever Women's Automotive Days - The Center will be hosting an Automotive Day at 3:15pm to 4:00pm between the Sharwan Smith Center Building and the Old Facilities Building/ Heat Plant. A student worker from Motor pool with be helping individuals learn how to change their own tires and various other things.

Thursday, the 8th - Parent Programming - Employment Seminar - Will be held in the Escalante Room (144) in the Sharwan Smith Center at 1:00pm. This seminar will bring in people for Work Force Services and from SUU's ACDC to do mock interviews.
Friday, the 9th - Family Support Group - Starting Oct. 9th at 1:00pm the Center will be hosting a Family Support Group every Friday. Come, meet other students like you, that have the same struggles and the same dreams as yourself.

Wednesday, the 28th - On-Campus Self Defense Night - In the Combative's room (PE 304) at 7pm to 9pm. Students from the T-Bird Karate Club and Mixed Martial Arts Club will be leading it. Women please come in comfortable clothing and get ready to kick it up!
Thursday, the 29th - Take Back The Night - We are very excited to inform you about our fifth annual "Take Back The Night" March and Rally coming up on Thursday, October 29th, 2009, from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm! Sponsored by SUU'sCenter for Women and Families and supported by numerous other campus organizations, Take Back The Night is not just a rally against sexual violence, but a commitment to ending violence in our personal lives and in our community. The night is often regarded as the most dangerous time of day for women, no matter the activity—jogging in a local park, walking to the mailbox, or entering a dark room. Our cries and the words of our supporters loudly proclaim that we will not tolerate sexual violence, assault, or rape— and the we are here to “Shatter The Silence." Please come meet us at Cedar Hall Housing at 6:30pm for our march to Main Street and back and then around 7pm we will be meeting in the Sharwan Smith Center Living Room for a good old-fashioned Speak Out.
